Flashback to October 2008: I was a personal trainer and manager at a big box Globo gym. A buddy of mine was preparing for the military and using CrossFit.com as his training regimen. I’d heard of CrossFit, but I wasn’t sure where to start.
He gave me a workout: as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of 5 pull ups, 10 pushups, and 15 air squats.
“Jeff, how much weight on the squats?”
“No weight bro. Air squats.”
“Dude I’m gonna crush this! Twenty rounds!”
Six rounds later, I lay smashed on the floor. Humbled. And hungry for more! My passion for CrossFit was ignited!
I’ve been lucky to coach CrossFit for over 10 years and my career has taken many twists and turns. Yet nothing has been able to extinguish the fire and passion that was sparked many years ago. CrossFit isn’t just about the workouts. It’s about community, the support you get when you’re with like-minded people. I’ve seen CrossFit do amazing things for others, and it’s done amazing things for me. I know it will do the same for you.
